Contemplative Writing

Contemplative Writing offers the opportunity to
practice "Meditation in Action", as the writer and her
classmates as listeners visit the realms of compassion
and being present with what is, as it is actually
documented. Writing in the classes varies according to
interest - some write fiction, some journal entries,
some essays - but regardless of content, the act of
noticing the mind, then discussing what we have
noticed together as a group - is the contemplative
aspect.

Miriam Hall has studied forms of writing similar to
this with Paula Novotnak and Natalie Goldberg. She has
been teaching weekly classes and leading retreats at
the Madison Shambhala Center for over two years now.
See "Happenings" for class schedules and registration.
