Shambhala Day is the traditional New Years celebration of the yearly lunar cycle and our community's holiday to celebrate the arrival of the new year of the Iron Ox.  This year it will fall on Friday, but we are choosing to have our celebration on Saturday, in order to make it easier for people to join.
    Schedule of Events:
11:00 am - 11:45 am:  Community Practice - sitting meditation and the Elixir of Life sadhana
11:45 am - 1:15 pm:  Broadcast of the international Shambhala Day presentation (recorded from Friday)
1:15 pm - 2:00 pm:  Social gathering; everyone is encouraged to share a virtual meal together; there will be offerings from community members
The theme of the live broadcast is Celebrating Shambhala Culture and will have a particular focus on Shambhala contemplative arts and culture. Presenters will include Acharya Arawana Hayashi, Acharya Dan Hessey, and arts and culture features from Centres and Groups around the world.
Programming elements will include a lhasang, Kyudo shot, Ikebana demonstration, tea ceremony demonstration, calligraphy exhibition, and Miksang presentation. This will truly be a celebration of our rich Shambhala culture.
The Elixir of Life is a short sadhana  that is very accessible and is a reflection on the four reminders, and the preciousness of life.  Text will be shared on the screen.
Please email Lora at [email protected] if you would like to share a poem, music, a joke or some other offering with the community at our social gathering.
